How to Play Minesweeper

Everything you need to know to play and win

Basic Rules

Minesweeper is a single-player logic puzzle played on a rectangular grid. Some cells contain hidden mines. Your goal is to reveal all cells that do NOT contain mines.

Goal: Reveal every safe cell on the board without clicking on a mine.

How Numbers Work

When you reveal a cell, it shows a number indicating how many of its 8 neighboring cells contain mines. If a cell has no adjacent mines, it appears blank and all its neighbors are automatically revealed.

Strategy Tips

Start from corners and edges where there are fewer neighbors. Count carefully: if a number matches its flagged neighbors, you can safely chord-click to reveal the rest. Look for common patterns like 1-1 and 1-2-1.

The first click is always safe — the board is generated after your first click!
